Minecraft: Story Mode Coming to Wii U

Despite Minecraft’s popularity across nearly every platform, even mobile, it has somehow managed to avoid Nintendo up until now. The developer announced the news earlier via Twitter that Minecraft: Story Mode would be coming to the Wii U, the first episode is slated to launch later this year if all goes to plan. While this isn’t exactly the version of Minecraft Wii U fans have been crying out for it’s a start, perhaps if its shown enough support the original Minecraft game could also find its way to Nintendo platforms sometime in the future.

Minecraft: Story Mode will be a five episode narrative-driven experience brought to you by Mojang in collaboration with Telltale Games. The story follows the adventures of Jesse and his friends as they set out to find The Order of the Stone in an effort to save their world from total destruction. No pressure then. The game will also feature an all-star cast of Patton Oswalt, Brian Posehn, Ashley Johnson, Scott Porter, Martha Plimpton, Dave Fennoy, Corey Feldman, Billy West and Paul Reubens, with more to be announced. As stated above the first episode is coming sometime this year and it will be available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PC, Mac, iOS, Android and now Wii U. If you want to get a flavour for what the gameplay might be like you could always try out one of Telltale’s older games such as their award winning interpretation of The Walking Dead.

In a quick bit of other Minecraft news the IP and its developers, Mojang, have recently been purchased by Microsoft and a Windows 10 version of Minecraft has only recently been launched.
