Techland love modders, 343 to finally fix MCC?, Mythbusters v Doom, and news bits

During the course of the last 24-hours of human existence, Katy Perry decided to dress up like Magmar, and then dance with Jaws. This strange occurrence is, of course, the internationally recognized signal to post gaming related news on a website on the Internet. So lets do that now!

On Saturday DarkZero reported that Techland was cracking down on modders of Dying Light. Many thought this was the case, as the company issued a patch that tidied up some of the title’s gameplay, but in turn made it very hard for modders to work their magic on the game. It now seems this was just a mistake!

Creating obstacles for modders has never been our intention, and we are sorry for the inconvenience. We are now working on a quick patch that will re-enable common tweaks while stopping cheating in the game’s multiplayer mode,” comments the developer as part of a much  longer message you can read on the game’s Steam Community Forum.

Speaking of patches, lets keep talking about those.  If you were at all interested in enjoying multiplayer Halo: The Master Chief Collection in late 2014, you will know it launched as a broken mess. As time passed, and patches were released, the game got better, but it was still at times unplayable. 343 Industries always promised it would get better, but it never really did. 343 are now promising big things, in what they call the biggest patch ever.

As this update contains the biggest changes to the Matchmaking system yet, we’ve identified that additional time and testing is required. We are currently evaluating both timing and need for a CU [content update] beta with the Xbox One Preview program, as well as the final public release date in February. We’ll continue to provide the latest updates here on Waypoint,” comments the dev.

Moving away from the sadness patches seem to fill us with, the Mythbusters guys (just two of them now), have tackled video games in the latest episode of thier show (that aired over the weekend in the US). The episode tackled two different games – Doom and Fruit Ninja. One myth focused on a human’s ability to hold all of Doom’s trademark guns at once, whilst the other asked if a real life version of Fruit Ninja was possible without causing misfortune to oneself. In typical Mythbusters fashion, they ended up resorting to UFC fighters and chainsaws before the episode came to a close. Sadly, this new series of Mythbusters has no said airdate in the UK as of yet.
