2DS Price Drop Coming End of August

On the 30th of August the Nintendo 2DS’ price will drop from $129.99 to $99.99 in North America. The deal is made extra sweet due to the fact that a digital copy of Mario Kart 7 will still be included with the handheld. The 2DS was launched during October 2013 as a cheaper alternative to its flagship counterpart the 3DS. The 2DS lacks the 3DS’ 3D capabilities and clamshell design instead opting for a fixed slate look, making it a little more child friendly. Otherwise the 2DS has the same internals as the 3DS and can play the entire library of DS and 3DS games.

If you were at all hesitant about buying a DS then it seems like there’ll be no better time to splash out than August 30th. The 3DS already has a strong line up of games including the already mentioned Mario Kart 7 and Super Smash Bros. The future is also bright for the console with games like The Legend of Zelda: Tri-Force, Mighty No. 9 and Fire Emblem: Fates all on the horizon.
