Games With Gold

October’s Games with Gold Revealed

Microsoft have revealed Xbox Live’s Games with Gold for the month of October. As usual I won’t leave you waiting in anticipation so the games are: Valiant Hearts and The Walking Dead for Xbox One, while the 360 gets Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and The Walking Dead. If you want to know when each game will be available read on.

Firstly Valiant Hearts: The Great War will be available on Xbox One during the whole month of October. I can tell you from experience that this one is worth the download. It follows the story of five interconnected characters, one being a dog, as they struggle to survive the horrors of World War I. The games art direction is beautiful and the story might just move you to tears on more than one occasion. That’s not to say the game is perfect, but I think its assets shine right through its flaws making it an incredibly enjoyable experience.

Then from the 16th of October to the 15th of November Xbox One players will be able to enjoy Telltale’s The Walking Dead, which comes with its DLC piece 400 Days. This game doesn’t really need an introduction, but if you haven’t already played it you should do so. There’s a reason Lee and Clementine’s adventure got so much critical acclaim after all.

Snake… Snake……… Snaaaaaaake!!!

During the whole month of October Xbox 360 players will be able to download Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. This is a short prequel chapter to the recently released The Phantom Pain and it sets up that game very nicely. If you haven’t gotten to play The Phantom Pain yet you should start with Ground Zeroes for more than just story reasons. If you sync your Ground Zeroes save with The Phantom Pain you can unlock some goodies in that game.

Finally from the 16th of October to the 15th of November 360 players will also be able to enjoy The Walking Dead. It certainly doesn’t need an introduction a second time.

If you haven’t claimed your September games yet there’s still a chance to do so, you can check out what they are here. It seems a little strange to include The Walking Dead on both consoles considering all 360 games released on Games with Gold will be playable via Xbox Ones backwards compatibility. However, that’s an extremely minor complaint and it’s great that every Xbox fan will get to enjoy a fantastic game, unless you still play on the original Xbox in which case it’s time to upgrade!
