September’s Games with Gold

Once again Microsoft has revealed their Games with Gold line-up, this time for September 2015. Let’s waste no time here, the line-up is as follows: The Deer God and Tomb Raider Definitive Edition for Xbox One, while Microsoft’s seventh gen console, the 360, is getting Battlestations: Pacific and Crysis 3. Deer God

The Deer God will be available for free from September 1st to the 30th. It’s a pixel-art-based platformer that questions reincarnation, life, death and what it means to survive in a state of nature. The story revolves around a hunter who is switched into the body of a deer and has to survive while he figures out how to return to his own body. To make each play-though different the landscape is procedurally generated, but the game is also meant to challenge you philosophically and make you ask different questions each time you play.

TR 2013

Next up is the upscaled version of the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot which will be available from September 16th until October 15th. Help Lara survive after she is shipwrecked on a mysterious Japanese island. The definitive edition contains all the DLC released for the title along with improved graphics and physics, even Lars’s hair is more natural and realistic. This is the perfect way to prepare for the November’s Rise of the Tomb Raider and learn about how the Lara that will be portrayed in that game came to be.

First up for the Xbox 360 is Battlestations: Pacific which will be available from September 1st until the 15th. This game puts the player in charge of either the American or Japanese fleets in the Pacific during WWII. Players take control of battleships, submarines and fighter planes as they issue commands that could change the outcome of the war

Lastly making an appearance on the 360 is EA’s Crysis 3 which will be available from the 16th until the 30th of September. This is an FPS that places the player in a high-tech Nanosuit that aids in both a stealthy and an aggressive approach to gameplay. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic New York in an effort to combine the natural setting of the first game with the urban setting of the second.

There’s still a chance to grab two of August’s Games with Gold if you missed them. Metro: Last Light will be available until the 31st of August and if you want to catch up with the Metal Gear Solid story before The Phantom Pain launches on September 1st you’ll be able to get Ground Zeroes up until August 31st. Thanks to the Xbox One’s new backwards compatibility features future Xbox 360 games that come with Games with Gold will be playable on the Xbox One. On a finale note Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, has recently expressed a wish to extend the Xbox One’s backwards compatibility too original Xbox games.
