The Sun “sickened” by Madworld publicity stunt

madworldarm_newsThe Sun have reported that the British public are sickened by a publicity stunt Sega used to promote Madworld’s release in the UK.

Their annoyance comes after Sega placed several blood-soaked severed arms at different locations in various cities across the UK.

The prosthetic arms were painted black a white, with fake red blood used to mimic the style used in the game. Each arm also held a copy of Madworld thanks to rigamortis quickly setting in.

The Sun go onto comment that Madworld “appears to go against the successful reputation of the best-selling machine, famed for being one that all the family can enjoy.”

However, Sega have spoken out to say they felt the arms caused no offence to anyone whatsoever. A spokesperson said:

“Sega is delighted to be leading the way with adult games for the Wii, and we are sure that gaming fans will see it as a breath of fresh air.

“The arms used were very clearly black and white to reflect the comic-book nature of the game.

“We had a team of people carefully monitoring reaction to the arms, if anyone at all found them offensive we removed them immediately. But we have had no complaints from the public at all.”
