Wii Firmware Upgrades Won’t Break Freeloader

After the recent announcement of the Freeloader, the only problem we had with the possibly magical disc was the fact that upcoming Wii updates could ruin the fun very soon after it started. Well, apparently that is not the case, and Wii’s Freeloader will continue to work regardless of what Nintendo does to the firmware in the future.

…we can confirm that on every occasion that the product is used when the disc is inserted in the console that it allows the usage of any imported Wii game discs and disables the console from been able to update its firmware, if the disc is removed after been inserted and reinserted this will again enable the console to update its firmware but still allow the usage of the any imported Wii game discs,” comments Datel to a reader of Kotaku’s blog.

Oh, and in other completely unrelated news, Europe still has no date for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but it is out in six days in the US.
