UK Sales Chart – Week ending 13th September

Its no-change this week at the top of the charts, with EA still owning the UK Game Sales 1-2-3 for a second week in a row. Could the megapublisher get the double by maintaining this dominance for a third week running?

1. Mercenaries 2: World in Flames (Pandemic Studios)
2. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 (EA Tiburon)
3. Spore (Maxis)
4. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Sega)
5. Wii Fit (Nintendo)
6. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo)
7. Guitar Hero: On Tour (Vicarious Visions)
8. TNA Impact! (Midway)
9. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Sora Ltd.)
10. Spore Creatures (Maxis)
11. Lego Indiana Jones: Original Adventures (Traveller’s Tales)
12. Grand Theft Auto IV (Rockstar North)
13. Mario Kart DS (Nintendo)
14. The Sims 2: Apartment Pets (EA Redwood)
15. Imagine: Teacher (Magic Pockets)
16. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Infinity Ward)
17. Kung Fu Panda (Xpec)
18. Battlefield: Bad Company (Digital Illusions)
19. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (Neversoft)
20. Soul Caliber IV (Namco)

Sales of the top three games dropped since last week, but sales of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games jumped 85% following some heavy marketing and promotional work from Nintendo. Activision’s Guitar Hero: On Tour went one better than that and increased sales by 143% on last week, jumping six places.

‘Sports Entertainment’ title TNA Impact! is the only genuinely new entry into this weeks chart, although Battlefield: Bad Company, Mario Kart DS and Kung Fu Panda have made a re-appearance into the top 20.

Although they weren’t released this week, DS spin-offs Spore Creatures and Sims 2: Apartment Pets jumped into the top 20 for the first time, as well as Ubisoft’s Imagine Teacher, which promises to “allow you to live the rewarding life of a young teacher by embodying a trainee teacher who takes over a class in a brand new and modern school.” Shockingly, this game didn’t manage to break into the top 10.

Notable games that have departed from the Top 20 this week include Beijing 2008 and Too Human.
