Ubisoft Awarded Avatar Game Rights

2009 might be a long way off, unless you stumbled onto this article two years after it was written via a Google search (if so hi there, how life?), but Ubisoft seem to be thinking ahead and have announced today that it has been granted the video game rights to James Cameron’s upcoming Avatar film, Cameron’s previous diretorial efforts were Aliens, The Abyss, True Lies, The Terminator, and Terminator 2: Judgment Day, oh and Titanic.

Avatar, a film which Cameron pausingly describes as “a futuristic tale set on a planet 200 years hence… an old-fashioned jungle adventure with an environmental conscience… aspires to a mythic level of storytelling” is currently set for a May 22, 2009 release in cinemas worldwide. The game is currently set to be released alongside the film.

Ubisoft is excited to partner with 20th Century Fox and James Cameron on this important project,” said Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft’s CEO. “Avatar’s rich scenario, onscreen action and special effects will provide a wealth of inspiration to create a unique interactive experience.
