Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 launches next week, it would be really nice if it was good

I always adored the Tony Hawk games – although it was a series that most certainly wore out its welcome. I wanted nothing to do with those terrible RIDE and SHRED games. The most enjoyment had from those was watching a bulldog spin on the dumb board peripheral. I did like a lot of what came previously though, and even found some enjoyment in Project 8. I wrote a review for it 9 years ago, which is probably full of typos (I am too scared to go back and check). However, there is no doubting the series was at its best in the early years – with THPS2, THPS3, and THPS4 all having great moments that significantly improved on the original idea first released back in 1999 – that’s a solid 16 years ago.

Now we are but one week away from the release of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 – actually the 16th Tony Hawk game depending on what games you want to count. However, things have not been looking good for the game, with a lot of pre release material not showing what fans would want from a game. The launch video (above) uses Burial, a song by Yogi, Skrillex, Pusha T. I am sure some are annoyed at that too, although it is incredibly easy to get annoyed at Skrillex, so I don’t blame anyone for that.

If you have not lost faith in The Birdman by now, you can check out Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 on September 29th for PS4 and Xbox One. We might have a review up, maybe… I am interested enough to give it a shot at least

Here is a link to Superman by Goldfinger, and a bonus link to Cyclone by Dub Pistols –  from THPS and THPS2 respectively. You’re welcome. PS: They are not in the new game.
