Titan Quest Developer Shuts Down

Iron Lore Entertainment, best known for their work on the mythological RPG Titan Quest has announced they will be shutting up shop. The closure comes seven years after they were founded in 2000 by Brian Sullivan (who had many ties to the Age of Empires series) and Paul Chieffo.

It is with great regret that we must announce that as of close of business Tuesday, February 19, 2008 Iron Lore Entertainment has ceased active game development. Several unrelated events occurred which resulted in Iron Lore being unable to secure funding for its next project,” comments a message on the developers official site. “We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who has helped us in the last seven years – our team who moved mountains to create such great games,” it continues.

Although the developer was best known for Titan Quest they also helped out Relic Entertainment during the development of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Soulstorm, and also released a Titan Quest expansion pack titled Titan Quest: Immortal Throne early last year.

The message on the site goes on to report “While Iron Lore will not continue, the talent of the team is embodied in the individuals now available for other opportunities.

We wish these individuals all the best in their future endeavours.
