Star Wars: The Old Republic goes free to play…. for a weekend

EA have revealed that starting Thursday, March 15, Star Wars: The Old Republic will have its inaugural “Weekend Pass Free Trial,” meaning those who don’t already have an active SWTOR account can play the burgeoning MMO for up to four days for free.

No payment method will be required to be tied to the account to play. The Free Trail ends Monday, March 19.

“Weekend Pass players will have the chance to face off against other players in PvP Warzones, or join up with friends and play through a couple of early faction-specific Flashpoints in the game, The Esseles and The Black Talon,” EA comments in thier announcement notes.

If you get hooked after the four days, you will then have to pay to keep going. Some people could claim EA are basically using drug dealer tactics here – although I would not say that… never!
