Six Wii Launch Titles Confirmed

According to issue 206 of Nintendo Power magazine, six titles were confirmed for release with the Wii console:

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Many gamers have been anticipating this title since its announcement at E3 2004. That’s a long time, but people can pick it up at the Wii launch. A year late is alright, right?

Metroid Prime: Corruption
The third and supposedly final instalment to the Metroid Prime franchise, the game is expected to make much use of the Wii controller’s pointer.

Rayman Raving Rabbids
Rhat’s arot of r’s. Seemingly cartoony in nature, Ubisoft and creator Michael Ancel are creating quite a fuss over the rebellious creatures with the ‘Rayman Bunny Facts’ videos being released.

Red Steel
An obviously more mature-intended game than the aforementioned Ubisoft title, the game is expected to help sell Wii consoles to an older audience with its excellent (and recently improved) use of the controller as a sword and gun.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz
SEGA’s title in the series gives you control of something other than monkeys – you get to control the field and have the power to make or break the poor apes’ lives.

Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors
Quite the mouthful! This game was announced by Square Enix for the Wii at this years E3 alongside a Wii Final Fantasy: Chrystal Chronicles. The game is very highly anticipated by fans of the franchise and should please many launch buyers.

While we don’t know an exact date, the Wii is expected to release sometime this fall in the October – November region. Potential Wii buyers should not be discouraged by this list – there will be several other titles at launch that have yet to be confirmed, and several others coming in the following months (Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Wario Ware, and so forth).
