Sega “reinvent” Jambo! Safari for Wii and DS
Sega have announced they’ll be remaking Jambo! Safari for both Wii and DS. The game will be hitting stores late in 2009.
Jambo! Safari was first released in the arcades during the 90’s, challenging players to chase wild animals in an off-road jeep and attempt to capture them. The Wii and DS games will do the same, but have all new graphics and “deeper gameplay, suited to today’s Nintendo consumers.”
The DS version of the game will “make full use of the stylus and double screens,” whilst the Wii version will see the Wiimote used “like a lasso” while the Nunchuk will be used to drive through the vast levels to rescuse animals in need, diagnose and treating them.
A co-op mode will also be on show, enabling play of certain missions with a friend. Mini games are in there too – with games called Ostrich Racing, Meerkat Madness on show.
“Jambo! Safari was a much loved SEGA arcade game that has lent itself perfectly to the unique way of playing games on Nintendo platforms”, commented Gary Knight, European Marketing Director SEGA Europe. “Jambo! Safari makes learning fun, whilst children are playing the game and rescuing the wild animals they collect information cards, meaning they learn the characteristics of the animals and their natural habitat as they play”.
