Playstation Home on schedule for autumn

Sony’s ambitious virtual world/3D chatroom/gaming application that is known as Playstation Home has already suffered a few delays and was originally supposed to have been released to the gaming public around October 2007. At the Tokyo Game Show last year, they confimed Home had been delayed until Spring 2008.

Then Sony announced back in April that the open beta of Home had been delayed until autumn this year. Now, speaking to Next-Gen, Sony’s PSN director Eric Lempel says, “The Home open beta is still on schedule for release later this fall.”

He went on to explain: “The reason we’ve been delaying [Home] is so that we can deliver a high quality service that the users will enjoy. Even though it will be in beta, it will be a fair representation of what the service can be and its potential, so it won’t be a 0.5 release, it will be a fully robust service.”

All Sony needs to do now is decide on a clear vision of what Home is actually meant to be…
