Pick up a PSP for £150!

Sony has just unveiled a new price point for their recently announced PSP Basic Pack within the UK (due to launch March 22nd). For £150 you can now pick up the PSP by itself, with no memory card, or any other accessories bar the charger. Although this gives the consumer choice, it must be noted that a memory card is still essential, and that will drive the price up past the £150 mark.

The existing Value and Giga packs will still retail for their current prices. And there is rumour that new ‘game in packs’ will be released, that see the PSP bundled with some top games such as Pursuit Force and Ridge Racer.

With sales lagging behind Nintendo’s DS, which can be attributed to price in many ways, this move can be considered largely strategic, in making the system seem less costly to younger buyers.
