Nintendo to upgrade Wiimote to offer 1:1 motion control

Nintendo has revealed they will be upgrading the Wiimote to offer true 1:1 motion in 3-D space. This means that with the new add-on the Wiimote will be able to accurately mimic golf swings, swords, or maybe even lightbaers!

The device is called Wii MotionPlus, and it attaches to the end of the Wiimote. When it is combined with the accelerometer already in the Wiimote, and with the sensor bar Nintendo boasts it allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player’s arm position and orientation, which will offers players “unmatched precision and immersion”.

On their official site they comment that “Every slight movement players make with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play.”

Finally they comment that they’ll reveal more details about the Wii MotionPlus accessory during the companies E3 media briefing. It is very likely that some games will be revealed that make use of the accessory to.
