Niko’s voice actor disappointed at lack of royalties

Michael Hollick, the distinctive voice of GTA IV’s Niko Bellic has revealed to the New York Times he received approximately $100,000 for his 15 months of work on the game. He remarks that he is “incredibly thankful” for Rockstar giving him the opportunity to be in the game. However, he admits he is a bit disappointed with his union for “not having the agreements in place to protect the creative people who drive the sales of these games.”

The New York Times goes onto comment that “Had this been a television program, a film, an album, a radio show or virtually any other sort of traditional recorded performance, Mr. Hollick and the other actors in the game would have made millions by now.
