Modern Warfare 2 co-op is for two players only

Infinity Ward has confirmed that although Modern Warfare 2 will feature a co-op mode, it will be for two players only, and it will be completely separate from the main story campaign.

The previous installment in the Call of Duty series, World at War, had four-player co-op in both the campaign and the bonus Zombie-killing mode. But Community Manager Robert Bowling explained, “Two player seemed to be the magic number for co-op. That’s when it stayed really fun and intense without becoming a clusterf*** of things. We just found that two-players was the most fun.”

He went on to say, “We don’t do co-op in our story because we’re crafting a very specific experience and we don’t want to ruin that by cramming co-op into it. We take the moments that work really well with co-op, we bring them out and we put them in Special Ops. That mode will be about playing over and over again trying to get a better time. It’s about challenging a friend.”

Modern Warfare 2 will be released for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on 10th November.
