Midway looking to sell Mortal Kombat rights

It has been revealed that Midway will be selling off the Mortal Kombat rights to help scrape themselves out of the current financial glut they have found themselves. This means that should someone pick it up, the Mortal Kombat franchise will have a new home.

The news comes from NetDockets, citing Court documents  as a source, who comment that Midway are seeking an “execution of an asset purchase agreement for the sale of Midway’s Mortal Kombat franchise assets.”

The letter is dated February 20th, so that means something may be already in the works for the franchise to change hands.

So who will pick it up? Capcom might be a good one, as a possible Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat release may blow some peoples minds.
