Latest Game Informer gives first Assassin’s Creed 2 info
The latest issue of Game Informer is out, and the magazine has the scoop on the upcoming Assassins Creed 2. Thankfully, many people seem to have got their copy already, and over on the official Ubi forums details are streaming in.
The topic on the forum reveals that the game opens in the 15th century, a bit of a step up from the 12th century setting of the first one. You will be able to move about in various locations, visiting the likes of Saint Marks Basilica, The Grand Canal, The Little Canal, The Rialto bridge, and the countryside of Tuscany. Leonardo Da Vinci’s workshop will also be visitable in the game.
The story will be somewhat of a continuation of the first, but you will play as a new character – Ezio Auditore de Firenze. He is nobleman from Florence, and is also an ancestor of both Altair and Desmond – the protagonists from the first game.
Gameplay will be somewhat different this time, with a new notoriety system that governs how enemy soldiers and people will treat you. Different enemies will be on show, with a different tactic needed to defeat them depending on the weapon they hold. Enemy disarms will be improved, letting you use their own weapons against them this time round. Hidden items will be there to be found too, and you will be rewarded for seeking them out.
Furthermore, many more weapons are available to use in the game – with axes, a hammer, maces and the like all available the further you progress, with each weapon having a special move. You can swim too, and also fly,
Interestingly, there will now be 16 unique mission types in the game. This is a nice step up from that last, as it had only 4 that repeated over and over – which was one of the main criticisms people had. Eaves dropping and pick pocketing missions will be removed, which will apparently help the games pacing. There will also be night and day sequence in the game like many other current sandbox titles have.
Lastly, 240 people are said to be working on this title, which is a rather larage team to say the least.
