Kutaragi’s Spidey Sense Was Tingling

Anyone that ever looked at a PS3, infact even if they just looked at a picture of the unit will say something along the lines of “Hey, that logo looks just like the one in Spiderman.” that comment would of course be about the ‘Playstation 3’ emblazoned on the top of the unit that uses the Spiderman font seen on the posters and DVD covers of the now long running film series.

Today, it has been revealed that the idea behind the logo was the mind fart of one man, that man being Sony president Ken Kutaragi. This revelation was made known when PS3 designer Teiyu Goto did a interview with UK Official PlayStation Magazine and said “Rather than creating a typography with all the risks that entails, it was wiser to use the one from Spider-Man…It was also the wish of President Kutaragi, who insisted that I use this typography,” said Goto. “In fact, the logo was one of the first elements he decided on and the logo may have been the motivating force behind the shape of PS3.”
