Innovation Dominates: DS Exceeds 10 mil.

Nintendo today announced that the Nintendo DS has sold through more than ten million units worldwide. The US subsidiary announced US sales had passed 4 million. This total combines with Japan’s impressive 5 million and Europe’s last count of 1 million (June) to give the total.

Nintendo, in a year of downward spirals for video games, have claim to not only the fastest selling system in Japan’s history, but also a first Four million sellers in Japan in the launch year of a system, being Nintendogs, Animal Crossing, Brain Age and Brain Flex.

In the US, titles to reach the million mark include Super Mario 64 DS, Mario Kart DS and Nintendogs.

Together with the recent introduction of Nintendo WiFi Connection, the future is looking good for the Nintendo DS.
