Euro 2008 Confirmed For Rock Band

Along with announcing ten new songs for the game EA, MTV, Harmonix, and maybe some others have confirmed they will be release the rhythm behemoth on Euro shores in 2008, thus leaving the Christmas season open to Guitar Hero III. It now seems that the US will be the only territory to get the game in 2007.

The European continent’s rich and diverse musical pedigree transcends culture and language, which is why we are extremely pleased to announce ‘Rock Band’ in Europe for early 2008,” stated Jeff Yapp, EVP, MTV Program Enterprises. “It was imperative that we have significant on-disc and downloadable localized music content for multiple European territories on the PlayStation 2 system, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 system in order for Europeans to truly get the full Rock Band experience and interact with the music they love.

Interestingly, although it is bad news for people that were interested in the game (me for example), there is some good news included as it seems, at least according to the above quote, that the game will also be getting released on PS2. So, if you were only going to buy a next-gen machine for the game then you don’t have to any longer (of course you most likely wont be able to get any downloadable content). Also, if you really want the game this year I guess you could try and import it come its US release. I am sure the PS3 version should be region free at the very least.
