Discovery Joins Sky HDTV Lineup

A new 24-hour network from Discovery has been confirmed as the final addition to Sky’s initial HDTV lineup. Discovery HD promises to “bring audiences even closer to their world with breathtaking imagery and panoramic detail“, offering content from the broadcaster’s extensive HD library as well as specially-commissioned programmes. Shows on the slated to appear on the station include Sunrise Earth and Atlas while feature-length presentations include Leopard Son, Alien Planet and Journey to the Centre of the Earth.

Sky HD will offer the best picture quality available and the addition of Discovery HD to the portfolio will enable viewers to be transported into the amazing environments featured on the channel, “said Brian Sullivan, director of customer products and services at Sky. “Discovery HD will complete our initial channel line up for the launch of Sky HD later this year.”
