Capcom confirm Maximo series on hold

The Maximo series, which had its last outing in 2004 with Maximo vs. Army of Zin, is reportedly now on hold at Capcom, with no plans in motion to bring the series to any platforms in the future.

Responding to a question about the future of the series on the Capcom-Unity forums, Christian Svensson, VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development at Capcom, has said “sales were not adequate to support a sequel. Will there be another some day? Maybe. But to ignore what the market hasn’t supported isn’t exactly a good way to keep having the solvency necessary to continue making games that our fans want.

It’s possible, but I suspect no time soon. For the moment, the Maximo franchise is resting,” he clarified in a following forum post.

Both the Maximo games were however well received by critics, and are certainly worth picking up if you are looking for some quality PS2 games that will not break the bank.
