Atlus confirms original Shin Megami Tensei: Persona remake on PSP

As if the ton of new PSP game annoucements today by Sony weren’t enough, Atlus USA today confirmed the rumours that they are remaking the original entry in the highly-acclaimed Shin Megami Tensei: Persona RPG-series for PSP. They also said that this title would be released in America by the end of the year.
Here is the offical word from Atlus: “SMT: Persona stands as a proud relaunch for the award-winning series, featuring a completely redone localization and content never before seen in North America. Combined with gameplay enhancements and additions new to the remake, fans will have the chance to experience the first Persona game released in North America in a whole new way. Those looking to see the original epic in a whole new light, those who missed out the first time around, and even those PSP system owners who crave a marquee RPG: that which you seek is approaching.”
Unfortunately Atlus have not yet mentioned a European release, but we have fingers crossed that maybe we’ll be able to play the original Persona on-the-move by 2010…
We have some big Persona fans here at DarkZero. We awarded Persona 3 with a 9/10 score last year, and with Persona 4 finally getting a European release in just over two weeks time, it’s safe to say that you’ll be seeing a fairly positive review on this site in the not-too-distant future.
