Around the world in 67 hours

The US adventurer Steve Fossett landed in Kansas at 1948 GMT today becoming the first person to fly non-stop around the globe single handedly.

On Wednesday an unexplained fuel shortage had threatened the attempt but later the project manager said that the wind conditions and the fuel situation had improved between Japan and Hawaii. So the attempt went ahead.

The experimental plane, sponsored by Richard Branson and Virgin Atlantic, is able to glide up to 320km (200 miles) without fuel.
