AP German shooting news item mentions video games

With the awful events that happened in Germany getting huge media attention as of late, all outlets worldwide are saying their piece. Associated Press are the latest to write up a piece commenting on the tragedy, and in their piece they choose to mention the killers interested in gaming.

The news item says:

A 17-year-old who would give only his first name, Aki, said he had been studying this year with the shooter at a private business school, and described him as a quiet, reserved person.

Aki said the two played poker together, both in person and online, as well as a multiplayer video game called “Counter-Strike” that involves killing people to complete missions.

“He was good,” Aki said.

Thankfully, AP are not outrightly blaming games in there news piece. However, it is not nice to see that gaming it still unnecessarily tossed around as a negative when such incidents happen in the world.
