And the Replacement is…

Jim Merrick is probably a familiar name for a Nintendo fan as of late as the former marketing boss of Nintendo of Europe revealed new info, transferred back to Nintendo of America and later resigned from that job. Now a replacement for his position at NOE has been announced, and the man chosen for the job is Laurent Fischer who was previously marketing director for Nintendo of France.

During his career at Nintendo of France, Fischer oversaw the launches of Game Boy Colour, Game Boy Advance, and GBA SP. His duties as senior marketing director for NOE will be planning and co-ordinating the European marketing for all of Nintendo’s products.

Nintendo is moving into a very exciting and innovative time as we expand the definition of gaming and broaden the population of video games players. I am looking forward to the new challenge of working for Nintendo at a European level in this particularly significant period,” Fischer comments.

In other news (kind of), Achim Schmauss joins as the new European brand manager. He will be overseeing the launch of The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess in Europe, and later will be responsible for the pan-European marketing activities for the 2006 release of the Nintendo Revolution.
