Paramount And DreamWorks Go HD-DVD

We decided to release Shrek the Third and other DreamWorks Animation titles exclusively on HD-DVD because we believe it is the best format to bring high quality home entertainment to a key segment of our audience – families,” comments DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg as it was revealed that Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Animation would be solely support HD-DVD for it next releases. In fact, all upcoming releases, including the likes of Blades of Glory, Transformers and Shrek the Third will be available only on HD-DVD for those looking for a High-Def movie experience.

Before this announcement Paramount released many movies on the Blu-ray format, including the likes of Aeon Flux, Dreamgirls, The Manchurian Candidate, Mission Impossible III, Nacho Libre, Sahara, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, and Top Gun, but now it seems that it will no longer continue to happen in the future. However, Stephen Spielberg films will remain untied to any format.

I believe HD-DVD is not only the affordable high quality choice for consumers, but also the smart choice for Paramount,” said CEO and chairman Brad Grey.
