Analysts cannot agree over Chinatown Wars sales numbers

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is one of the few big name mature (18) rated games for the Nintendo DS. As such, it is treading new ground, and if successful could lead to other developers offering similar titles for the platform in the future.

As a result, it has got American analysts all excited, and they have started tossing their numbers around to predict what sales the game might pull in. Interestingly, their opinions vary wildly.

Michael Pachter, the most well known, and well-established analyst we’ve heard of, and one that seems to get a gaming related news story every week or two, sees good things for the game, commenting that Chinatown Wars will weigh in at around 450,000 units sold for the period ending in early April.

Jesse Divinich, analyst at research group EEDAR, is less excited, saying that the game will only see sales “in the 200k range,” but still believes the game “will most likely post a profit for Take-Two.
