Selfie-sticks in Doom, no TVii in Europe, a fake Rayman, and news bits
♫ Have to catch an early train, got to be to work by nine. And if I had an aeroplane, I still couldn’t make it on time. ‘Cause it takes me so long just to figure out what I’m gonna wear. Blame it on the train. but the boss is already there. It’s just another manic Monday. Wish it were Sunday. ‘Cause that’s my fun day. My I don’t have to run day. It’s just another manic Monday ♫
A ‘Rayman in Smash Bros‘ rumor started and ended during the weekend, with a video showcasing Ubisoft’s character appearing as DLC in the game. It got many people excited, and then got more than a few angry after confirmation it was actually a fan creation – and not official. A video has now been released explaining how and why the ‘fake’ was made. In a first for the Internet, it seems not everyone is angry, shouting, and moaning about the wool been pulled over their eyes, and more than a few seem to be taking this quite well.
The creator had the following to say in a YouTube comment:
“So now that things are starting to settle down a bit, I wanted to just take the time to say that I’m completely overwhelmed by the fact that so many people have given a positive response to this whole thing. It’s been a real encouragement to me that despite my effort to try to deceive people, people out there still support me and my work!”
“And though there has been a good deal of negative response as well, I probably deserve the hate that’s coming my way, and that’s something that I’ll just have to deal with.”

This Doom Selfie Mod is stupid enough to make crossing the rubicon into actually being entertaining.

The dream of haviing Niintendo TVii iin Europe has ended before iit ever got started, wiith NOE announciing the serviice wiill not be comiing to Europe shores.
“At Nintendo of Europe, we continue to challenge ourselves to develop a range of entertaining experiences for all to enjoy,” reads an overtly businesslike statement on the NOE website. “Due to the extremely complex nature of localising multiple television services across a diverse range of countries with varied licensing systems, regrettably we have taken the decision not to launch the Nintendo TVii service within the European region.“
If I was more professional I would use this paragraph to explain what TVii was, and why you may miss it. But I do not understand it one bit, and care even less. If you are sad about this, then you must not have experienced much hardship in life. Use Freeview or something!
News Bits
- Bungie are exploring the lore of Destiny in online videos, because they still cannot be bother to add more content to the game.
- Sniper Elite V2 is now free as part of the Games with Gold promotion on Xbox Live – if you are still the kind of person to have a 360 hooked up.
- Yo-kai Watch is on its way to a western audience it seems. The kid-friendly RPG has sold almost 7 million units for the 3DS in Japan alone. When your 6 year old kid starts talking about Yo-kai Watch this holiday season, you can explain that “back in your day” there was things called Pokemon. You can then feel old, and depressed.
- Telltale says they will patch a save-bug found in the Xbox One version of Game of Thrones Episode 2. They say nothing about preventing bugs in the future, so expect more to crop. I should really consider a news template to report on Telltale bugs to save typing.
- A Tron game is probably not happening – even though this interview says it might. The soundtrack is likely just for Tron content in Disney Infinity. Cheer up by listening to Recognizer fron the Tron Legacy OST.
- Here is a video about the soundtrack of Ori and the Blind Forest. It sounds lovely.
- After it disappeared for feck knows how long, the Iwata Asks series has returned. This one is about The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D (AKA A remake of the worst of the 3D Zelda games).
- The upcoming Final Fantasy XV demo apparently will have “several hours” of playtime, along with “plenty of hidden secrets”. Exciting!
- There is something happening with the Last Guardian – abandonment of trademark or something. This really is a nothing news story for two reasons.
- You believe the whole thing died long ago, and you have gave up hope
- It will take two more months before any abandonment is made official, so there is still hope left.
See you tomorrow (Tuesday), on the day no news seems to happen, and I post gibberish!
