Nintendo gets an eye

Nintendo have been busy at the patents office recently. They have just registered a few more phrases. Two of these – Manebito/Camera and Ningen-copy/Manebito suggest Nintendo have a camera peripheral for the GameCube, or possibly even the DS, in the works. The phrases roughly translate to Imitator/Camera and Person Copy/Imitator. Nintendo haven’t made it a secret that they have been looking into camera technologies. We first saw evidence of it when Nintendo announced Stage Debut at E3 a couple of years ago. Maybe they have finally decided to pursue this idea.

They may however, be planning to use it with the DS. Imagine that – video messaging with your friend from New York. It may be that it would plug into the GBA port on the DS – in the press conference they said that the GBA port may be used for accessories aswell as games.

I guess we will have to wait and see … with our eyes …
