Free Far Cry 2 email is fake, watch out

There is a nasty email doing the rounds at the moment, which looks very legit, with the sender posing as staff from Valve handing out copies of Far Cry 2 for free over Steam.

Obviously, if you ever receive something for free that you were not expecting, then alarm bells should start going off in you head very quick.

However, due to official look of the email (Joystiq screencapped an image of it), and the fact that Valve seem to be very generous at times, then someone may fall for it

If you click on the activation link in the email, you will be brought to a third-party site which will have the link to supposedly download the game for free. If you then click on that link, then we guess that’s when the bad things start happening.

No reports have come from anyone that fell for it yet.
