Xenoblade Chronicles X devs make localization changes, let’s add “censorship” to the headline
Looking on the internet recently, it seems that Monolith Soft and Nintendo has decided to alter the look of some characters in the upcoming western release of Xenoblade Chronicles X – a game that first released in Japan way back in April 2015.
A change of clothing is the culprit here. Lin, who was known to be a 13 year old character in the Japanese version of the game, will now show much less epidermis when the game comes to US and Euro shores on December 4th. In the Japanese release, she wore highly revealing attire, especially for someone of her age. She will also add two years to her lifespan and become a 15 year old with the move to the west.

Making respectable localization changes to a game in an effort to make it more palatable to different regions is certainly not a useful definition of the word censorship. It could be said the clothing change means the character is now much more appropriately dressed for a western release, especially when contrasting differing cultures and their tolerances for viewing such material. That’s not sensationalistic enough news for some places though.
Sorry for not turning this into controversial news bait material – I will post something about framerates later to fix that.
