Finnish game developer Frozenbyte has released a free content update to their stealth game Shadwen in celebration of Frozenbyte’s 15 year anniversary in the games industry. The update, called Escape from the Castle, adds 14 re-worked levels completely for free on all PC, OS X and Linux platforms. The levels are reverse and remade versions of the ones in the orignal campaign – the objective now is to escape from the King’s Castle! A showreel of Frozenbyte’s 15 year journey in the games industry is below

Due to recent advancements in my 88-bit scramble-bot, I have thwarted the launch of the game that boasts eighty-eight unique and utterly irrelevant crime fighters. I have demolished the source code for 88 Heroes, flinging the pieces across the Earth! With my relentless attempts to stop the horde of heroes at every step of the way, who knows when the game will launch! If I have my way, it won’t be for another 88 eons!!

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI

2K and Firaxis Games today revealed that Tomyris will lead Scythia in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, launching on Oct 21st for Windows PC. Tomyris assumed leadership of her group of nomadic pastoral tribes in 530 BC upon the death of her husband, the current chieftain. Her exploits were mentioned in the works of several great ancient writers such as Herodotus, Strabo, Polyaenus, Cassiodorus and Jordanes.

Interactive Entertainment today announced the release of The Phantom Limb Level Pack for LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, along with a new video showcasing this exciting downloadable (DLC) content, which is available today as a FREE download exclusively for players on PlayStation 4  and PlayStation 3 systems. The Phantom Limb Level Pack extends the LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens experience, continuing the story from the Trouble Over Taul Level — one of the New Adventures set in the time leading up to the film — after C-3PO’s ship crash lands on the barren planet of Taul, allowing players to discover the thrilling events that led to his new red arm and reunion with the Resistance. Developer Osmotic Studios and indie label Surprise Attack Games today revealed Orwell, a narrative exploration game in which you must pry into the lives of citizens to find those responsible for a series of ideologically motivated terrorist attacks. Orwell will release in late 2016 for PC via Steam. In the style of games such as “Papers, Please”, “Her Story” and “Cibele”, Orwell raises serious questions about contemporary society in a way that only a game can. It’s themes include the balance between security and freedom, what it means when we trade privacy for connection, and the impact of the internet on the way we perceive our world and are perceived by others.
