Half Life 3

The News We Missed This Week

Its Sunday again and again there’s not much to report on, so let’s take a look at some news pieces we missed during the week, five to be specific. Let’s waste no time here!

Dragon Quest Heroes

Fans of Dragon Quest will be delighted to know that the Western release of Dragon Quest Heroes will come bundled with all of the DLC previously released in Japan. The DLC includes quests, items and a new playable character, which was all released for free in Japan to support the game post-launch. Square Enix have stated that the DLC will be unlocked once you reach a certain point in the game, all you have to do is head to the in-game post office and read the letters that accompany the DLC, and that’s it the DLC is yours. It’s a pity more games don’t follow this pattern of giving out free DLC and only charging for meaningful content.

Half Life

How would you like to see Naughty Dog tackle Half Life 3? Well it will probably never happen, but that didn’t stop Uncharted 4’s Creative Director, Neil Druckmann, from tweeting at Valve and requesting the game. Here’s exactly what Druckmann tweeted “Look, Valve, all I’m saying is you give us the Half Life licence and we’ll take care of the rest.” It goes without saying that Naughty Dog does an outstanding job with their own original IPs, but it would be interesting to see how the studio would handle taking over someone else’s.

Battlefield Hardline

Battlefield 4 made headlines long after its initial release due to faults in the game, but Hardline went quite almost immediately which is a good sign because it’s not getting any negative press. However, Hardline is back with a release date for its brand new DLC titled Robbery. Robbery is launching on September 16th (this Wednesday) for Battlefield Premium members and shortly afterwards for the plebeians (myself included considering I don’t even own the game). Here’s what’s included: Four maps, a new 5v5 mode called Squad Heist, 4 weapons, 2 gadgets, 2 new factional vehicles with upgrades, new camos and vehicle paints, and “The Legendary Super Feature,” whatever that means. The maps are called The Docks, Break Pointe, Museum and Precinct 7.

Three Dog

It looks like fan favourite Fallout 3 character Three Dog will not be returning in Fallout 4. Three Dog’s voice actor, Erik Todd Dellums, tweeted this out, “The bottom line: Fallout fans are the best. Wanted to be a part of Fallout 4 for them. Love their energy, loyalty and kindness.” He then tweeted “Fun fact: I auditioned for no less than 7 roles in Fallout 3. Can only wonder why no audition for 4? Bewildered.” It seems that Dellums is just as big a fan of Fallout and its fans as they were of his character. Dellums only tweeted this information after Bethesda stated that they had finished recording the lines for Fallout 4 so he must have been expecting a part in it up until then. Perhaps they’ll use him for the DLC.

Need for Speed

Lastly you can now sign up for the new Need for Speeds beta. The game will always need to be online so the beta will be used to test servers, and so on, as well as promote the product before its November 3rd release date. It hasn’t been specified when the beta will be held but registration for it ends on September 25th. You won’t be guaranteed a spot in the beta even if you sign up for it so make sure you register right here as soon as you can if you’re interested.

That is that, five pieces of news DarkZero missed throughout the week. Make sure you check back next Sunday for the five news items we’ll more than likely miss next week!
