Shin Megami Tensei 5 heading west, says Atlus

Atlus has announced that the next mainline title in their Shin Megami Tensei series will launch in the west on Nintendo Switch.

Shin Megami Tensei V had previously been announced for Japan only, with a release in European and American markets uncertain. However, Atlus released a trailer yesterday confirming that the demon-coercing JRPG will launch in PAL regions. Expect upgraded visuals and mechanics as the series makes the jump from handheld to home console.

Shin Megami Tensei, which spawned the massively popular spin-off series Persona, has seen continuous releases in the west in the past so it is no surprise that Atlus are delivering once again. The latest release, Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse, was released on Nintendo 3DS in 2016 and garnered rave reviews from critics.

Shin Megami Tensei V is still deep in development, so don’t expect a release date anytime soon.
