No Multiplayer for Tomb Raider

According to the latest issue of the Official Xbox Magazine Rise of the Tomb Raider will not feature any multiplayer components. While 2013’s Tomb Raider reboot, which was developed by Crystal Dynamics, was met with a widely positive critical response it was penalised for its tacked on multiplayer. To quote Official Xbox Magazine this time around “multiplayer has been cut from [Rise of the Tomb Raider’s] experience.” This should free up the developer’s time a little bit more and allow them to concentrate on delivering the single player experience every Tomb Raider fan is asking for.

The developers have previously spoken about how they’re concentrating more on the tomb raiding experience this time around. Players will be given more options within the environment to help Lara avoid combat. Traversal options will range from swimming under water to climbing trees, but options like hiding in foliage should give Lara the jump on unaware enemies. Rise of the Tomb Raider is launching on Xbox 360 and Xbox One in North America on November 10th and Europe on the 13th. PC players will have to wait until the first quarter of 2016 to play, while PS4 players have to wait until the end of 2016 to get their hands on the game. Rise of the Tomb Raiders collector’s edition was recently announced. Bethesda’s Fallout 4 is also launching on November 10th and could drastically effect Tomb Raiders sales.
