2012 marks a new dawn in the history of the site and we are seeking talented volunteer editors and writers based anywhere in the world.

About darkzero

With nine years of history darkzero has established itself as a destination for videogame reviews. By writing for us your work will be featured on both MetaCritic and GameRankings – showcasing your work to publishers and developers as well as readers.

darkzero is run entirely by volunteers and is not driven by advertising or profit, just passion. Some writers aim to make a name for themselves and go on to become a full-time journalist; for the rest, writing about the games we play is our hobby. Either way, a professional approach is expected.

We want to bring in new people to help us take the site forward and build on what we have. As a bonus there will be the opportunity to attend some press events and we may be able to secure an occasional review copy of a game you want to write about.

What we are looking for

Excellent writing ability – you must possess a top-notch grasp of the English language, have great attention to detail and want to ensure that the quality of writing on the site is as good as possible. No formal qualifications are required, and we have editors to check your work and give feedback.

Expert knowledge - you will need to be an expert in a particular genre or have great in-depth of the video game scene in general.

Initiative - occasionally publishers will provide free games to review, but we are really looking for people who want to write about games they pre-order and buy. It’s the only way for us to ensure we have the best coverage, as we only get sent a small percentage of games released.

Professionalism - you conduct yourself with integrity, help others improve, be reliable and trustworthy. Experience is a bonus but not essential – everyone has to start somewhere.

How to apply

Email and provide at least one writing sample. Ideally this is a link to a review published on another site, or you can attach a newly-written piece, which if accepted could be your first article. Please indicate whether you are interested in being an editor or writer, and include a bit of background info, such as the formats and genres you want to cover.

I look forward to hearing from you.
