Gran Turismo 7 Companion App

The clever folk over at Dualshockers have spotted that Polyphony’s website states that they’re hiring for thirteen new positions. One of the job adds states “the studio plans to implement a companion app on mobile that can interact with the series on PlayStation via the network.” While Gran Turismo 7 has not been officially announced by Sony, as of yet, we know that Polyphony has being working away on the game for some time. The fact that the studio is hiring so many new workers at this point in time indicates that the game might be nearly ready and Polyphony is buckling down for the finale lap of development.

More than likely GT7 will be announced at one of Sony’s three upcoming events: Tokyo Games Show this month, Paris Games Week in October or PlayStation Experience in December. When asked if the game would be released during 2017, in a recent interview, Kaz Yamauchi said he felt it would be out before 2017 so expect it to be announced at one of the above events for a 2016 release date. As for the companion app I’d imagine it will work similarly to Battlelog for the Battlefield series. It will probably allow you to see what your friends are doing in the game, view and customise the cars in your garage, purchase new cars with in game credits, examine the race tracks and more. Bear in mind that’s all strictly speculation based on what companion apps for other games can do and nothing has officially been announced.
