Hi, i totally agree with the review. as much as i love final fantasy VII and this game… the diffuculty curve in the game is hurendous. if you start doing all the optional missions before chapter 3 the difficulty for the main stroyline is out the window and feel like a breeze to beat the game… the only difficulty you will have is the last 20 missions of the optinal missions… but its still a good game and gives you what happened before final fantasy vii and how the buster sword was passed down and set cloud on his path… overall i give it a 7/10… just because of the difficulty situation… dont think square-enix knew what to do with it.

I love the story/characters too, and didn’t feel it was stagnant or anything of the sort, loved the locales and the songs(both remixes and brand new) were top of the class and fit perfectly with main ff7 game.
Only problem was indeed the combat, which is utter rubbish.. kinda like all jrpgs.(not as bad as ff12 combat system though at least)
Since they ditched the party system for solo fighting, it’s a shame they didn’t introduce some combo system to spice it up, something on par with DMC games.
