im getting close to finishing the main plot and I absolutly love this game. I don't want it to end and have learned that there is a sequal coming out go to "arkhamhasmoved.com" to see the trailer. i hope you actualy get to go into gothem at one point that would be awesome.

on another note would if they made a co-op mode using robin or knight wing. and controlled villan respawn so you can pick what part of arkham you want to fight while keeping the open world gameplay alive

Great review.
How some people are complaining about the replay value has me a little baffled.
How many games have you played where the story ends? I'd hazard a guess to say every single one of them. What's left to do after the story ends? Play the story mode again? How's does that differ here?

Here's the difference: the challenge modes , if you've got your system hooked up to the 'net. The leaderboards keep you going, trying to get better. Who doesn't like to see their high score up there with some of the best?
The God of War series had challenges but once you completed them, you've unlocked everything. Replay out the window. With the challenge modes in B:AA, it keeps you going.
I haven't stopped playing this game since it came out so I'm definitely not going to say it doesn't have any replay value.

Absolutely top-notch - gaming perfection. All of the elements - graphics, sound, animation, combat engine, story, level design, atmosphere - are superb. One of the best single-player experiences of this generation. 10/10 spot-on.
I personally am enjoying playing the combat challenges, and feel the combat engine has a lot of depth.

I'm not saying that the game should be marked down because of lack of longevity, although I just can not see the appeal of the challenge rooms. I just think they highlight the fact that the different aspects of the game don't stand up that well on their own, the combat or stealth aren't amazing, but it's how they've integrated them together in the story, which in itself gives gives motivation to play.

I agree with Ian, I've really enjoyed playing this, although I'm not so hot for the Challenge Modes purely because I only seem to survive long enough to see the third wave come in before I get battered!

It's been far more enjoyable than some of the AAA titles I've played in the past, so I think the 10/10 is justified! It makes a change to play a game that I can't fault easily, it seemed well thought out, well designed, well implemented, and I feel it developed on the Batman / Joker story well. Just my 10p on the matter..... ;)

I felt that Batman had a fair bit of replay value, both in finding all of the Riddler's secrets and through the challenge rooms. The challenge rooms especially have kept me drawn to the game - any excuse to play about with the freeflow combat some more.

Even so, I don't think a game should be marked down simply because it ends. There are plenty of games that are considered masterpieces that are pretty much over the first time you finish them. Considering the level of quality on show throughout Batman, I don't see a lack of multiplayer as anything particularly negative.

I'd rather play an excellent game once, than a mediocre game a hundred times.

It has far more replay value than the average game, it just you don't expect to be able to find all the secrets in one rainy afternoon.

It's a great game and all, but 10 out of 10, I don't think so, replay value is practically zero, and the challenge mode is dull as hell.
How hard would it have been for them to implement a predator style multiplayer game where one player plays as Batman, whilst up to seven other players play as armed goons, that would have been cool.

Finished this off at the weekend... considering I hate stealth games I loved this one! Really enjoyable to play, although I agree, the replay value is probably low, the desire to replay the Challenge Modes after getting my arse handed to me has dwindled somewhat now.... definately worthy of a 10/10 though!

One of the best games of the year while it lasted, but fell short in terms of replay value I felt. I just didn't feel the need to go back after a few goes on the challenges.

While I cant wait for the sequel i may end up renting and re-rent ing it next time until completion instead of paying the full price. (That or borrow it.)

I have finished the main quest, just mopping up achievements. I have to say it's been the most enjoyable game I've played all year - and the first paragraph of the review spells it all out: it just made me feel that I *was* The Batman.

I *really* hope they don't screw up the sequel.

I'll throw down the gauntlet too then, how do they top this? they've already shown they are commited to a sequel. I reckon the next one will make an open world game (GTA style) out of Gotham and have us chasing after petty crooks (Mad Hatter, Rat Catcher) with other occuraces from the bigger villians, i.e. 2Face. Nothing has cooler villains than Batman, it was a shame we didn't meet more in BAA.

(I like using BAA for short hand!)
