Podcast 26 – Back In Black

Podcast 26 Large

Andi’s back, and so is Batman. Coincidence? Of course it is, but shut up.

This episode marks a special occasion for the DarkZero podcast team – it’s the first time we’ve actually felt the need to censor the podcast a bit since our very first recording, where we weren’t yet sure if we were allowed swearing or not. It turned out we were, but this episode is a bit… well, listen to the second half and see what you think.

It probably goes without saying that Andi’s return results in a load of talk about fighting games – if you hit that part and get bored, skip forward to the 27-minute mark and you’ll be fine.

After the usual stuff about what we’ve been playing this week (summary: not much), we talk at length about how utterly brilliant the Batman: Arkham Asylum demo is, and the implementation of Microsoft’s new ‘games on demand’ thing for the 360. And, occasionally, you might accidentally uncover a joke or something. Especially if you like beeped-out profanity.

Many thanks as always to all commenters and subscribers. You keep Sean going when his laptop overheats and turns itself off whilst trying to export the MP3 for the fifth time. Hopefully we’ll see you all next week, when we’ll be introducing our very own theme music. Only this time it wasn’t made by Sean, Ian and Andi messing around on NitroTracker for the DS. So, bonus.

Cheerio!

  1. Lols at Ian’s sister. She sounds nice!

    PETER ANDRE PETER ANDRE!

Burnout DLC: Enforced download of DLC that just sits there waiting for money sounds poo. Reminds me of all the DLC ads in Crackdown, where you go to the agility race and it says “Buy the pack now!” Annoyance.

Free XBLA games? When was this??

“DarkZero podcast: More game chat, less positional statements!”

    Worst Batman singing ever.

“Sean. This is Batman. I’m very disappointed. Email me if you want to learn more about what I do. batman)at(brucewayne.com”

True, the gargoyles are easy, but Ian is very good at stealth, as has been mentioned before. Hence his excell-o-batmanning.

Miley Cyrus in Modern Warfare 3? Surely any warzone would do.

I think you can press Y on the Games On Demand to switch between pounds and points. The prices do seem to be quite silly, I think the best way for that service to justify itself is if it offers very rare games, eg Psychonauts, at a price near to eBay levels.

Excellent snippet use right at the very end!

  2. Those accents are fake; you’re fooling no one

  3. Phil: I challenge you to do better Batman singing.
In regards to free XBLA games, Undertow was given away in Jan ‘08 and Carcasonne was in Nov ‘07.

Gera: Are you talking to Michael Pachter? He does this whole podcast by himself you know.. It’s especially impressive how he manages to talk over himself all the time.

Yet another quality podcast there chaps! I indeed listen to it at work albeit via my headphones! I gotta get some enjoyment whilst sat here plugging away at Local Government GIS!!

The cen**rship in the second half, albeit understandable, kinda wrecked my ears as I was not expecting a high frequency squeel to disguise the words… come on, we’re all adults (in body at least), I think we can cope with a few expletives……

Oh yeah.. I completely agree with the price of XBL Games on demand… total RIP OFF!!! £20?!?! No chance.. I reckon I can get most of those titles cheaper in the bargain bin! Does this show a complete disregard to the Live subscribers? I fear sadly yes it is.. Micro$oft don’t care about us, they just see us all as piggy-banks! :(

Can’t wait till the next podcast.. same Bat-time, same Bat-channel and all that…. Turn on, Tune in, Spaz out! Quality!

  5. good podcast; listening 2 it while loading the dishwasher and got mi iphone court in the door and it broke :( i have to use my mums now
    :(

  6. The 3D robot cartoon you talk about is called Bots Master, pretty cool show back in 1994. Found some episodes on youtube, wonder if it’s still as good.
