Since last week’s podcast ran over time by a considerable margin, we’ve still got a bunch of E3 stuff to get through. So, join regular podcasters Shark, Eagle, Crocodile and Puma as we tear apart the Nintendo and Sony conferences with our teeth/beaks/claws/talons, and make a load of rubbish jokes along the way.
Highlights:
- Crocodile has finished Shenmue, didn’t like it.
- Shark now plays Sims 3 on the toilet.
- Puma has finally finished ICO, loved it.
- We should all be happy about Mario Galaxy 2. But we’re awful, spoiled children.
- F.A.O. NINTENDO: None of us want to know about our body’s inner worlds, cheers.
- And then, suddenly, a new bloody Metroid game.
- Then lots of stuff about Sony. Too many highlights. Listen to the bloody podcast, will you?
Next week we’ll be talking a lot about Prototype, and mopping up a load of third-party E3 stuff. Unless something interesting happens.
See you then!

Is there some meaning behind Eagle’s position atop all the others?

Yes, it is because it is flying.

Commenting whilst listening…
Shenmue chat: Buses that run on time? What an age! Highly unrealistic.
Ico chat: I have never played it, but I haven’t owned a PS2. Is it worth the probably £60 I’d have to pay to get the game and a console?
Nintendo Vitality Sensor: Cheat by shooting up morphine? Lols!
Waves: Surely this recent weather has shown that the worst wave is a heatwave?
Wii Motion Plus: I agree with your criticisms, but surely the same thing will apply to Microsoft’s Natal? If we could do these things in real life, we would; we cannot; so we press buttons.
Carradine RedSteel: if so, worst viral marketing since that plane went down over the ocean for Bioshock 2.
Mega-laughs at chloroform “unlock all” code.
Is calling all your listeners crazy really a good idea?

I’d say getting a PS2 is worth it if you get Shadow of the Colossus as well as Ico. But its a pretty short game, so it wouldnt be worth £60 if thats all you’d use the console for.
Phil, you’d have to be crazy to listen to us blab on for over an hour… I salute you for it.

This artwork is rather spectacular!
I think you were a bit harsh on GoldenEye. It’s easy to forget it came out around the time of Mario 64 and both pushed 3D to a new level. It holds up remarkably well in multiplayer given its age and the controls are near perfect once you refamiliarise yourself, which does require a little patience. I’d argue its still a better local deathmatch game than most today, and when you consider the PS3 controller’s suitability for FPS, I wouldn’t call it much of an improvement.
