Wiiware launches in US with six games

After all the hype WiiWare has now gone live in the US and a selection of games are available for all to download. Six separate games have been made available for the debut of the service, which is a bit less than originally expected.

Even worse, the likes of Dr. Mario and the lovely looking World of Goo sadly have regretfully not made launch. Interestingly, that means there is no Nintendo published or developed game in the launch line-up.

However, there are a few titles that are worth a download. The unique Platformer that is LostWinds, and Pop, a distinctive looking Puzzler would be our go to games if we could download them. The full list is as follows:

  • Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles My Life as a King – (1 player, 1,500 Wii Points)
  • LostWinds – (1-2 players, 1,000 Wii Points)
  • Defend Your Castle – (1-4 players, 500 Wii Points)
  • Pop – (1-4 players, 700 Wii Points)
  • VIP Casino Blackjack – (1-4 players, 500 Wii Points)
  • TV Show King – (1-4 players, 1,000 Wii Points)

Wiiware will debut over here in Europe on May 2oth, but the launch line-up is still unknown as of yet. We expect it to be somewhat similar to the US one, unless Nintendo want to remind us how much they hate us.

Do we know if there are any demos of the games released on WiiWare? I’d hate to buy and download one that turned out to be tripe! Nintendo have never really been fans of demos though have they? Have I just answered my own question?
