Video Games To Blame For UK Earthquake?
Did you feel the earthquake last night? It was apparently a 5.2 on the Richter scale, its epicentre was in Lincolnshire yet it was felt all over the UK. Those in the know will obviously realize the quake was caused as a result of a sudden release of energy in the Earth’s crust that created seismic waves. However, just in case someone wants to print something sensationalistic, us gamers just want to say that we have had enough, and we would like to get the jump on the mainstream press before they blame us for causing the earth to move.
Okay, yes we know we have cast too many Summons in all the Final Fantasy’s that have been released, and you could pin that on us, but in all honesty most gamers don’t even level up sufficiently to cause enough damage, so please don’t blame us for that. Then, when we are on the subject of RPG’s a few of us cast Earthquake magic too many times in Blue Dragon when grinding up our levels – but not enough people even bought that game to even make a dent in the charts, so please lay off us for that too!
Oh, and when we are at it, yes we also know we played Gears of War too much and those Locust emerging have a part to play, but that’s their fault and not our’s – go blame CliffyB why don’t you, he is apparently an idiot after all! Finally – and yes, we know this is where the media will catch us out – we do realize that some of us have played multiple versions of a game called Quake, but most of you must have the sense to know that that’s not to blame either – it is just a name after all, albeit a silly highly uninspired one.
So, Jack Thompson, Daily Mail, Bishops, churches, and most importantly Fox News please back of this time. We are not to blame. Really! However, if you are still looking for someone to load the blame on, and then write badly researched articles about we will hastily direct you towards a guy called Dig Dug – we never did trust him anyway!
