Uncharted compared to porn by Heavy Rain devs

David Cage, the founder of Quantic Dream, who are the developers of the upcoming Heavy Rain, and who also brought us the rather good (until the aliens came) Fahrenheit has likened the storyline of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune to that of a porn film.

“I thought Uncharted was very interesting,” he remarks to Gamasutra. “There was some very, very interesting aspects to it. The big difference between Uncharted and what we’re doing here is that Uncharted was still structured like a video game. It gives you a bit of story, then action, then a bit of story, then action – like porn movies, when you think about it.”

“Porn movies are structured in exactly the same way, except that the action is not the same (laughter), but it’s the same structure. Most video games are done like that.”

Not much is known about Heavy Rain at this point, but Quantic Dream have said it will be a “very dark film noir thriller with mature themes.” It is likely the game will expand on the interactive storytelling elements that the company introduced in Fahrenheit, along with introducing many new elements as well.
