This latest installment in the highly-acclaimed Total War series is the fastest-selling so far, recording almost twice as many sales in its launch week than either Rome: Total War or Medieval II: Total War, and being the only game in the franchise to reach No.1 in the All Formats chart.
Sales of Sony’s Killzone 2 are down 58% on last week, but are still only 1600 units behind Sega’s chart-topper. Nintendo are not far behind as Wii Fit enjoys a 31% surge in sales, pushing it up one place to No.3. So Ubisoft has to settle for Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. debuting at No.4, being the second best-selling game on both Xbox 360 and PS3 this week.
The best-selling 360 game this week was Halo Wars, which slipped three places to No.5 thanks to a 54% drop in sales. Meanwhile, Professor Layton gets pushed down a place to No.6 despite a 12% increase in sales.
Previous No.1’s hold the next three spots as Street Fighter IV drops 59% of sales and four places to No.7, while FIFA 09 and Call of Duty: World at War both drop 7% in sales and one place in the charts, down to No.8 and No.9 respectively.
The only other new release this week is the re-release of Mario Power Tennis with flashy ‘New Play Control’ on the Wii, but this fails to make the Top 20, sitting at No.21.
